Rory
Allen Nominated for Western Canadian Music Award
SaskMusic
and the 2007 Western Canadian Music Awards are proud
to announce that Saskatchewan's own Rory Allen has earned
an Outstanding Christian Recording nomination
for his sixth CD In My Father's House.
This CD features a selection of traditional and contemporary
gospel songs recorded live in concert at the 2000-seat
Conexus Arts Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan in October
2006.
The
concerts entitled Food for the Soul were successful
fundraisers for the Regina and District Food Bank. Accompanying
Rory for these two evenings of inspirational music were
none other than Grammy Award winning vocal group, the
legendary Jordanaires, from Nashville, Tennessee, as
well as emerging Regina vocalist, Jeffrey Allan Sawatzky.
Rory's
own fabulous eleven-piece band, plus six members of
the Regina Symphony Orchestra string section under the
direction of concert master Ed Minevich, and a 38-member
gospel choir under the direction of Tom Magnuson joined
talents to provide a superb musical canvas for these
exciting and moving concerts.
Celebrated
Canadian composer and arranger Craig Salkeld played
keyboard for these concerts, as well as filled the role
of music director, adding phenomenal instrumental and
vocal arrangements to every song. The capacity audiences
were thrilled with the presentation and this subsequent
live album from these concerts has already been very
well-received since its release in December 2006.
Rory
and his wife Lorie have a strong commitment and history
of making a positive difference in their home community
and province. Upon hearing the news of the award nomination,
Ray Walker, bass singer for the Jordanaires, commented,
"What else could one expect. We are so proud of
you and to be associated with you."
The
WCMA nomination adds to the anticipation of the upcoming
live concert DVD In My Father's House - available now! Please contact us
